DJ Kayper is a seminal force on the mainstream, dance, and urban music scenes. A record-breaking win in 2004 brought DJ Kayper, aka Kaajal Bakrania, the title of first female winner of the Vestax Juice DJ Competition and an official sponsor that pushed her to the forefront of the DJ scene. Kayper has headlined at renowned nightclubs including London’s Ministry of Sound, Bar Rumba and exclusive venues like Bungalow 8 and Met Bar, New York City’s famed SOB’s, M2, The Knitting Factory and Joe’s Pub. Kayper promotes headline artists too. Ebonics, her own branded Cambridge club night from 2003–08 led her to spin alongside idol DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money, DJ Premier, Stone Love, Clinton Sparks, Killa Kela, and The Scratch Perverts to name a few. She’s also played support DJ to Pete Rock, Pharaoh Monch, Ghostface (Wu-Tang Clan), Guru (Gangstarr), Common, Arrested Development and Roy Ayres. Most recently she was the tour DJ for new pop icon Taio Cruz in the UK.
